2024 Summer Program Counselor Q&A: Lauren Russell ’22

August 28, 2024

Each summer, Forman School alumni serve as Summer Program Counselors. We asked the 2024 alumni counselors about their goals, experiences, and how Forman prepared them for college. Lauren Russell ’22 returned for a second year in the role.

Q: Why did you want to return as a counselor?

A: It is such a rewarding experience to see each child’s success in and out of the classroom. Additionally, I see the impact that I have on students who remind me of how I was at their age.

Q: What did you learn from being a counselor last year?

A: I learned how to be a positive role model to students as I have been in their shoes before.

Q: What are you excited about doing as a counselor this year?

A: I am excited to build strong relationships with campers. One of the most important ways to make an impact is to build rapport and trust with them so they know they aren’t alone.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: My future plans consist of being in the education field as I have not decided which age group best suits me. I plan to either be a preschool teacher or work at a boarding school.
