Mariée Voss ’24 Gains Valuable Experience as Summer Program Counselor and Intern

August 6, 2025

Mariée Voss ’24, a Forman alumna, returned to campus this summer to serve as both a Summer Program counselor and teacher intern. For four weeks, she worked alongside Sara Reilly, English Teacher, and supported students in their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

Mariee is an Educational Studies major at Hobart and William Smith College and hopes to become an elementary school teacher. She returned to Forman to learn from the teachers who once taught her.

“I really wanted to come back to campus and see everyone I have missed since I graduated,” she shares. “I also thought being able to work with some of my teachers I had would be a wonderful opportunity to gain experience. I also really like working with kids, so I thought it would be fun.”

As both a counselor and an intern, Mariée especially enjoyed connecting with students.

“Doing activities with them and having students come to me for advice about issues or just to talk is a great feeling,” she says. “In the classroom, it’s so rewarding when the students have a light bulb moment, or when they try new things.”

She says that, along the way, she developed key skills that will serve her well in her future career.

“I learned how to lesson plan and how to explain things in multiple ways,” she says.
