January 15, 2025

Four students have been recognized for their artwork by the CT Scholastic Art Awards.

Llewelyn Davis ’27 won a Silver Key for her drawing, “Thunderhead,” Carrington Hawes ’25 received an Honorable Mention for her portfolio, "In The Warren" and a Silver Key for her painting, “The Ram,” Olivia De Sanctis ’26 earned an Honorable Mention for her photograph, “Abyss,” and Mairin Cantin ’26 won a Silver Key for her photograph, “Girl in grass.”

“The Arts Department is excited for our students, and we celebrate their achievements for being recognized by the CT Scholastic Art Awards,” said Erin Gleason, Arts Department Chair.

“Carrington’s portfolio contains pieces she worked on in both our Visual Arts Portfolio and Metalsmithing classes. Her work portrays her love of animals and art. Llewelyn is always creating—trying new techniques and ways of making her very detailed drawings,” Erin adds. “Olivia has developed a passion for photography over the past year and has experimented with lighting and the use of shadows. Mairin has been a wonderful addition to our photography and other studio art classes. We are looking forward to seeing her processes of making art.”

Llewelyn created her work during the Promethean Program. “Llewelyn’s illustrations showcase an extraordinary blend of vibrant colors and intricate details, creating a style that is truly one-of-a-kind,” said Jeoffrey Langill, Director of the Promethean Program. “Her dedication and creativity are clearly reflected in her well-deserved recognition with the Scholastic Silver Key award.”

The award-winning artwork will be on display in the CT Regional Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition at Hartford Art School’s Slipe Gallery until January 31st.
